As of the second quarter reporting deadline, the Democratic candidates for the Board of Selectman, led by Drew and first selectman candidate John Blankley, had raised more campaign funds than the Republican candidates. Drew commented on the importance of fundraising and the challenges democrats face:
“I think we’re at a disadvantage because of the numbers game,” said Marzullo, who is seeking a second term as selectman. “If you want to be a successful Democrat in this town, you have to get your message out, and that, unfortunately when you’re running for election, costs money.”
